Students of Holy Cross International College (HCIC) Yaounde on Wednesday, February 11, joined millions across Cameroon to mark the 60th edition of National Youth Day.

Braving a heavy morning downpour in the city of Yaounde, the students from the Anglo-Saxon Catholic boarding school maintained their composure at the Mfou ceremonial ground, earning appreciation from spectators and officials seated in the grandstand.
This year’s milestone anniversary was celebrated under the theme: “Youth at the Heart of Great Hopes, for a United, Stable, and Prosperous Cameroon.”

Observers at the ceremonial ground noted that the 2026 theme aligns with the priorities of President Paul Biya, who, following his November 2025 inauguration, has emphasized placing young people at the center of the national agenda.
Similar parades in Yaoundé and other regional capitals mirrored the march-past in Mfou. Beyond the marching, the day featured cultural exhibitions and technology showcases, highlighting the creativity and digital prowess of the “Android Generation.”

As the clouds cleared in the afternoon, the HCIC students returned to college filled with hope and aspiration, eager to continue their studies.
