Favelas FC has emerged as the overall champions of the 2024 edition of the Holy Cross International College (HCIC) Proprietors Cup, following a hard-fought victory in the Senior Male Football category. The team secured the coveted title with a narrow 1-0 win over La Presidence FC in a match that showcased the talents and determination of both squads.

The match kicked off with a profound intensity, as both teams exerted pressure right from the start. Favelas FC and La Presidence FC exchanged aggressive plays, each side looking for an early advantage. Despite their best efforts, neither team was able to convert their chances into goals during the first half, leading to a goalless stalemate as the teams headed into halftime.

The tournament has become a cherished tradition at HCIC since its inception in 2014, fostering a spirit of competition and camaraderie among students.

This year’s tournament held special significance as it was dedicated to the memory of Peter Ngu Tayong, a beloved leadership coach at HCIC who recently passed away. Coach Tayong’s impact on the school community and the lives he touched will be remembered fondly by all. According to the school, his dedication to nurturing young leaders and instilling values of teamwork and perseverance served as an inspiration throughout the tournament.

As Favelas FC celebrates their championship victory, the excitement for next year’s tournament is already building. The Proprietors Cup continues to be a proof to the talent, dedication, and spirit of the students at Holy Cross International College.
